Team Geequinox
On Saturday, October 4, Team Geequinox saddled up and rode from Arlington to Mount Vernon and back to raise awareness and money for the American Foundation for Children with AIDS as part of the "Climb Up So Kids Can Grow Up" event. It was a gorgeous, crisp fall day, perfect for a nice long bike ride! We overcame one flat tire, one shifting issue, and a few trail obstacles, having a great time pedaling together. Bill's family cheered us along the way, and at the "finish line" we were welcomed by our spouses and children with balloons! It was a wonderful day and event, and we appreciate the support of Wyle Information Systems, Chipotle, and family and friends who helped our team raise nearly $1,300 for children with HIV/AIDS. Thank you all and God bless you!
Tres rode in memory of Alice, a little girl who did not get to grow up, and the sick, abused, and missing everywhere.

Team Geequinox is made up of Virginia work friends who do a lot of computer-related work (hence the "geek(s)" in "Geequinox") but also like to cycle.
The team is:
John Strait
Tres Lewis
Bill Dunlap
On September 28, 2008, we will cycle about 40-50 miles together from the Arlington-Falls Church area down to Mount Vernon and back. We hope to raise $5000 to help AFCA provide anti-AIDS medication to affected children. All three of us are fathers and it hurts to think of little kids coping with such a terrible disease, so we want to do something to help.
We look forward to our ride to have fun together and more importantly, help people in need.

Ready to Ride
A Potomac resident is taking part in a charity bike ride Sept. 28 as part of a team of co-workers — all IT professionals — dubbed "Team Geequinox." The ride is geared to raise money for children living with HIV/AIDS, and the group will pedal from Arlington to Mount Vernon as part of the "Climb Up so Kids can Grow Up" event, coordinated by the American Foundation for Children with AIDS. The event will bring together climbers, walkers, hikers and cyclists who will raise money for the foundation, dedicated to providing medicine, supplies and food to children suffering from HIV/AIDS in Kenya, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
River Falls resident Tres Lewis is undertaking the effort with Team Geekquinox, in spite of a metal hip he received after undergoing hip replacement surgery in 2005.
